Rustic Pathways International Business Development Program

Rustic Pathways is a student travel organization offering the world's finest experiential education, community service, and adventure programs. Our experiences range from kava ceremonies in Fiji to zip lining through the rainforest canopies of Costa Rica, from building schools in rural Tanzanian villages to scuba diving the Great Barrier Reef.  We empower students through innovative and responsible travel experiences to positively impact lives and communities around the world.

 

Responsibilities

September through May - Sales Module

  • Book visits at schools, fairs, conferences, or other venues in your assigned territory
  • Distribute catalogs and collect lead information at your booked events
  • Publicly speak about Rustic Pathways at assemblies, in classrooms, and to audiences of teachers, parents, and students
  • Convert Student Travel leads to enrollments via text, phone, and email
  • Meet with teachers and school administrators to grow Rustic Pathways business
  • Manage the logistics of your sales territory, including cost effective and time efficient transportation, accommodation, and sales collateral supplies
  • Learn and leverage technology platforms including Salesforce, Google Suite, and Cirrus Insight
  • Generate excitement and conversation about Rustic Pathways at every opportunity by leveraging your energy, enthusiasm, knowledge, and passion for travel

June through August - Marketing Module

  • Live abroad for three months in either Australia, Cambodia, China, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, the Fiji Islands, Laos, Mongolia, Morocco, New Zealand, Peru, Tanzania, or Thailand
  • Maintain a Rustic Pathways Instagram account.  Must be able to select images, write captions, record videos, and post to the site.
  • Write and send email updates to the parents.
  • Write blog posts for the Rustic Pathways website.
  • Interview local villagers, program leaders, and international development workers to document our work on the ground.

 

Skills Learned in this Position 

As an entry-level role, we expect you to be an energetic, performance driven, willing, and positive team member who is excited to learn and grow professionally. We do not expect you to walk in the door having already mastered all aspects of your responsibilities. While in this position, you can expect to develop the following professional skills, which will positively benefit your career growth at Rustic and beyond. 

  • Sales techniques and strategies (generating leads, converting leads)
  • Basics of marketing (create a message, share a message, grow an audience)
  • Public speaking
  • Time management
  • Professional writing (blog posts, social media, other mediums)
  • Technical training across a variety of software platforms

 

Qualifications

Education: Bachelors degree with a focus in international business, economics, sales, communications, marketing, education, international development, anthropology, social awareness or a related field.

Requirements:

  • Must be independent, hard working, adaptdable, reliable, have lots of endurance, and embody an appetite for adventure
  • Study abroad experience or extensive time immersed in foreign cultures.
  • Travel, intercultural facilitation, leadership, and/or education with high school students
  • Professional working proficiency in English. Additional languages are a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and eligibility to work legally in the US 
  • Must be 22 years of age or older by May 30, 2020

Location & Travel

Your location will change through the year and may cover large territories in the USA and abroad. During the course of your employment, you can expect to travel to a minimum of 1 of our countries of operation, as well as explore varied communities and cultures within your sales territory. You should be excited by the prospect of joining an elite team with 75-100% of your time spent traveling.
