The Position

The Global Shipping Manager position at Rustic Pathways oversees all components of the organization’s dynamic shipping and logistics processes. This position is responsible for successfully shipping sales materials in bulk to sales teams both domestically and internationally in addition to mailing student materials to clients. Rustic Pathways is a highly-seasonal business and responsibilities will vary based upon the time of the year. During some months, this position will be supporting sales team members by providing them with bulk shipments of materials while they are on sales routes, during other months of the year the position will be directly helping to fulfill shipments to clients with pre-trip departure materials (t-shirts, journals, and other promotional materials). It is a highly-independent position that requires a self-motivated and organized individual to be successful.


  • Coordinate shipping of domestic and international freight shipments.
  • Fulfill daily catalog requests.
  • Manage and send necessary “pre-trip departure” packages to school and individual students.
  • Manage warehouse space.
  • Maintain inventory of all materials on hand (both sales materials, and packing and shipping materials) and identify when new materials will need to be ordered.
  • Maintain accurate and timely financial expense reporting.
  • Fulfill other mailing needs and projects as requested.
  • Provide logistical support with company vehicles (storage, maintenance, and provisioning / de-provisioning for sales teams).
  • Manage relationships with various freight and shipping providers.
  • Manage temporary staff members as required.
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills Required

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word (mail merging, data sorting and clean up, and formatting).
  • Diligent and self-motivated work ethic.
  • Ability to manage priorities and deadlines with little oversight.
  • Familiarity with shipping providers (USPS, UPS, FedEX, DHL) and shipping software and postage purchasing providers (Endicia) is preferred.
  • experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Experience with Gmail and Google Docs / Drive.

Work and Environmental conditions

This position is primarily based in an office setting and warehouse. The work pace for this position is sometimes fast paced where standing is required for up to 2-3 hours at a time. Low supervision from managers with intermittent prompts. Social interaction with vendors and team members required frequently.

This position requires such physical abilities as sitting for computer and phone work for long periods of time, standing, walking, stooping, and kneeling throughout the warehouse and Ohio office buildings. Other abilities include lifting up to 50lbs and balancing, carrying, handling, pushing, and pulling freight and other materials. Use of packaging materials such as a tape gun and box cutter are also required.

Majority of work is done in a controlled office and warehouse environment. The environment in which the job is performed outside a normal office space may include exposure to extreme temperature, noise, heights, or other hazards. All remains the same for any additional requirements for training, protective clothing, or monitoring.

Post Hire Training: 

Acclimation with Rustic Pathways proprietary system, financial reporting, shipping standards including international and domestic freight shipping resources and tools.
